The Beesley Lecture: How will storage and decentralisation change the energy market?

Thursday 26th October 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Don’t miss your chance to hear Richard Green, Professor of Sustainable Energy Business at Imperial College London, and Tim Emrich, Chief Executive Officer at UK Power Reserve Ltd, discuss How will storage and decentralisation change the energy market? as part of this year’s The Beesley Lectures.

Since the creation of the National Grid almost a century ago, electricity in the UK has functioned in much the same way: generated in large thermal plants, transported nationwide by transmission networks then delivered to customers’ premises by distribution networks. The rise of embedded generation and the rapid advances in storage technology are threatening traditional business models in the sector. Is a revolution at hand? This lecture will consider the impact of these developments and the regulatory changes required to allow innovation to flourish whilst still delivering security of supply.

The lecture will be followed by a Q&A and a drinks reception with plenty of time to continue the debate.
