EngD: Manufacturing processes for long lifetime Sodium ion batteries

EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing

University of Warwick and Faradion Limited are seeking a top class candidate to undertake research leading to the award of an International Engineering Doctorate awarded jointly by the Universities of Warwick, Exeter and Cranfield.

This project is a collaborative project between, WMG, Dr Emma Kendrick and partner company Faradion Limited. It will focus upon the design and engineering of high performance electrodes and cells for sodium ion batteries.
The aim of this project is to develop electrodes for high energy density and high power sodium ion batteries. A series of investigations will involve novel design concepts for electrode hierarchy in order to achieve state of the art performance of a sodium ion battery technology. Using Faradion’s cathode and anode materials and technologies, research into the formulation, mixing methodologies and coating parameters and cell designs will be performed.
