PDRA – Investigation of the Commercial Potential of Prussian White based Sodium-Ion Batteries

The primary focus of the research project will be characterization of aging and degradation pathways of Prussian Blue-based electrodes in sodium ion batteries. The position will involve material synthesis, the construction and testing of full cells at both a lab and pilot-line scale, electrochemical testing of these cells and characterization of the material using a combination of analytical techniques such as thermal analysis (TGA-MS, DSC), X ray and neutron diffraction, Mössbauer spectroscopy, SEM and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Some of the work will be undertaken at major facilities such as synchrotron or neutron sources and there will be visits to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology to perform XPS measurements.
