£29,799 to £32,548 p.a.

The Mechatronics Research Group has an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow who has a successful track record in control engineering and power electronics. The research, which is funded by an Innovate UK Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), will be focused on the development of a battery management system featuring diagnostics that utilise the temperature properties of novel materials used in new lithium-ion battery packs to take pre-emptive action against thermal runaways.

You will join one of the UK’s most dynamic centres for engineering and environmental research and education rated number one for research power in REF2014.  The University is a leading members of The Faraday Institution, the UK’s independent institute for electrochemical energy storage science and technology. We have an excellent record of collaborative research with industry and academic institutions in the UK and abroad. The Faculty hosts the EPRSRC Centre for Doctoral Training on Energy Storage and its Applications which is run jointly with the University of Sheffield ( You will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team from Engineering and Chemistry.
