This exciting Graphene Flagship Project starting in April 2018 is a spearhead research area directed by Varta Batteries and based within the Energy Innovation Centre at WMG, Warwick University. The project focuses on developing anodes for Li-ion batteries based on silicon and graphene and was devised in response to a continuum of growing energy needs with power and capacity. The goal is to develop a reliable technology for the pre-industrial production of Si/graphene based Lithium Ion Batteries and will develop cell formats targeted towards wireless applications. This will span cell formats from coin to pouch size and will generate prototype cells to bring new competences to Li-ion manufacturing.
